OFFICIAL RULES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Professional photographers and photography hobbyists alike are invited to participate in this photo contest. Capture your favorite Memories Of A Lifetime. Photos may be submitted in either digital or standard sized print formats. See additional format and eligibility information below.
Participant/Photographer Eligibility
To enter the photo contest, participants/photographers must be at least 18 years of age or have written permission to participate from a parent or legal guardian. All entries must include a completed entry form and all releases that apply. Entrants may be either amateur or professional photographers.
Photo Formats/Submission
Entries can be either color or black and white images. Standard prints can be mailed, postage paid, to Milanof-Schock Library - 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, PA 17552 OR Manheim Community Library -15 East High Street, Manheim, PA 17545.
Images must be 4” x 6” in size and be provided in hard copy.
Please note that all entries submitted to the Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries become the property of the Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries and may be used at their discretion, regardless if the entry wins the contest. Photos will not be returned, so please do not send your only copy if you want one for yourself.
The Official Entry Form and any and all Model Release Forms are required for entry. Entries must be submitted / postmarked by August 15, 2008 to be accepted for each contest. We are not responsible and cannot be held liable for any photos submitted which are lost or damaged.
Photograph Categories
When submitted, entries must be designated as one of the six (6) contest categories listed below:
- Our Town
- Pets
- Children
- Sports
- Families
- Nature
Judging
A panel of local artists and photographers will review all entries that have been submitted to select the finalists for public voting. Entries will be judged on the basis of photographic quality, creativity, and effectiveness in conveying the subject. Entries may be disqualified and / or discarded for any reason including failure to comply with any portion of the official Photo Contest rules.
Winning Photographs
Winning selections may be featured in displays at the Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries and in Engle Publishing’s Merchandiser newspaper, as well as the Memories Of A Lifetime website and marketing materials that may be published. Entries must be submitted / postmarked by the August 15, 2008 to be accepted for the contest.
Image Modifications
Images must be of content captured via a camera and may not include significantly modified or digitally edited content. Only minor (if any) brightness or contrast enhancements be made to photo submissions, and entries will be judged based on their content and how the photo conveys/communicates the subject.
Ownership/Copyright
Photographers retain copyright to any submitted photographs. By submitting said photographs for the Photo Contest, photographers agree to full/unrestricted use of submitted photos by the Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries at any time. Photo entries must have been taken by the submitter. Do not submit any photo taken by someone other than yourself. You must be the exclusive owner of copyright for any photo submitted to the Photo Contest. By submitting said photo(s) you guarantee you are the author and copyright holder of the photo. Photos submitted need not include credit for the photographer when used or reproduced by the Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries. The Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries retain the right to distribute, transmit, publish, copy or otherwise exploit whether in whole or in part, either digitally or in any other medium now known or later discovered, the photographs submitted. Photos submitted may be cropped, resized, and otherwise altered by the Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries. The Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries reserves the right to request alternate formats from the submitting photographer.
Restrictions/Guidelines
Photographers may submit a maximum of three (3) photos for the purpose of entry into the Photography Contest. We reserve the right, in our sole and unfettered discretion to decide what constitutes inappropriate content. Photos containing any recognizable person or persons must be accompanied by a signed model release form signed by any recognizable person or persons in the photo. Release forms are available as part of the Official Entry Form.
Additional Terms and Conditions
The Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries and/or its employees cannot be held liable nor responsible for any computer system, network, or program malfunction or any other errors or failures. We are not responsible and cannot be held liable for any photos submitted which are lost or damaged. By participating in the Photo Contest, you agree to release and hold harmless the Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries and its employees, officers, departments, agents, and any advertising or other company with a business affiliation with the Photo Contest sponsors. The Photo Contest sponsors, their employees, officers, departments, agents, and any affiliated companies or agencies assume no responsibility or liability for any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind arising in whole or in part from this contest. Employees of Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries may enter the contest if all other eligibility requirements are met, however entries are to remain anonymous and solicitation for votes will void the employee’s entries.
