Partners In The Community

The Manheim Community and Milanof-Schock Libraries serve as a cornerstone of learning and community gathering place for the Manheim and Donegal regions. The Memories Of A Lifetime Photo contest was conceived to help raise much needed funds for the libraries.

The contest is sponsored by Buch Funeral Home in Manheim and Heilig Funeral Home in Mount Joy; in conjunction with Engle Printing & Publishing Company, which publishes the local Elizabethtown-Mount Joy Merchandiser and the Manheim-Lititz Merchandiser.

Contest Overview

Professional photographers and photography hobbyists alike are eligible to submit entries for the photo contest. Photos entries must be designated as one of the six (6) contest categories including: Our Town, Pets, Children, Sports, Families or Nature.

Voting would be done by a ballot box at the local libraries. Each dollar donated to the library, in the form of a “vote” for a favorite photo, would count towards determining the winning photo. All monies raised would be donated to the libraries. The photos that receive the highest total dollar amount would be selected as winners for each category.

Winning photographs will be featured in displays at the Manheim Community & Milanof-Schock Libraries and in Engle Publishing’s Merchandiser newspaper, as well as the Memories Of A Lifetime website.

Judging Parameters

Area art teachers, professional photographers and artists are being asked to serve as judges to review all of the photographs that have been submitted in order to narrow down the field prior to public voting. The judges will select up to five (5) finalists in each of the six (6) contest categories.

Entries will be judged on the basis of photographic quality, creativity, and effectiveness in conveying the subject. Entries may be disqualified and/or discarded for any reason including failure to comply with any portion of the official Photo Contest rules.
